Hadnot Inks Deal with Cards

About an hour after news broke that Brodney Pool had signed a deal with the New York Jets, multiple sources are now reporting that OL Rex Hadnot has signed a deal with the Arizona Cardinals. Per our friend Aaron Wilson at NFP, Hadnot's deal is for three years at $9 million.

Hadnot spent two years with the Browns after coming to Cleveland from the Miami Dolphins. The big lineman was part of a right side of the offensive line that is being rebuilt (for good reasons) during the 2010 off-season. The Browns started the reconstruction project with the signing of RT Tony Pashos earlier this week.

Brodney Pool Signs with Jets

The New York Jets have decided to take a flyer on talented but concussion-suffering S Brodney Pool, according to ESPN and the New York Daily News. The deal is for one year and $1.3 million.

The former second-round pick has been a starter for the Browns over the last several years, but has suffered at least five concussions over that time, throwing his long-term prospects into doubt. The Browns surprisingly did not tender Pool with the other restricted free agents, possibly due to injury concerns.

Similarly, the Browns allowed S Sean Jones to leave through free agency last year, as Jones was coming off some extended time on the IR. Jones wound up signing a one-year deal with the Eagles.

Delhomme Visits, Taylor Drops 411

For you subscriber types, we've been doing some digging, and John Taylor has dropped some knowledge on Delhomme's visit to Berea in the Ask the Insider Forum.

As terrific as Delhomme was for the Panthers in their terrific 2003 season, his 2009 campaign was a complete disaster, with the quarterback beginning and ending the season horribly. While 2008 was a success for the Panthers as a team, Delhomme's final game that season featured a fumble and five picks, leading to Carolina losing to the Cardinals in the playoffs.

In other words, thanks but no thanks. At 35 years of age, Delhomme has a nice career to look back on, and the $20 million guaranteed cash the Panthers gave him prior to last season should help him ease into a life more pleasant than serving as a boo target for us ruthless Browns fans.

Brodney Pool Visiting NY Jets, Tampa Bay

Browns CB Brodney Pool, whose frequent issues with concussions was the likely reason he was not tendered as an RFA by the Browns, is getting some attention from NFL clubs.

In addition to a visit with the New York Jets today, Pool is scheduled to visit the Tampa Bay Bucs tomorrow.

Browns to Work Out Maryland CB

"Mr. Frump" passed us a link via Twitter regarding speedy, 6'1" cornerback Nolan Carroll, who is getting a closer look by the Browns and Patriots, as well as a visit to Miami. Carroll's senior year was cut short by a leg injury early this season.

Could Carroll's injury make him a bargain? Chris Steuber has him ranked well down the list of available cornerbacks.

Thanks Mr. Frump!

Browns at the Clemson, Alabama Pro Days

I'm starting to hear some reports from the Clemson Pro Day from our friends at CUTigers.com. We don't have confirmation of a Browns scout in attendance, but we can certainly assume that they were. Outside linebacker Ricky Sapp and RB CJ Spiller are among the highly-rated prospects at Clemson.

A number of teams (Vikings, Rams, Giants) were tracking Spiller very closely, but the Browns weren't among them from our reports.

The Browns, of course, were confirmed to be on site at the Alabama Pro Day yesterday. More as we get it…

Browns Give Gilyard the Once-Over

According to old friend Tony Pauline, the Browns were very interested in Cincinnati WR Mardy Gilyard.

Marshawn Gilyard significantly improved his forty time, stopping watches in the mid 4.4's to low 4.5 area.  Gilyard's other numbers included a 38.5 vertical jump, 6.71 three cone and short shuttle time of 4.03 seconds.  After the "official" workout was completed the Cleveland Browns kept Gilyard on the field for extra work.
