How different a team are the Packers now than when the 49ers beat them in September? What makes QB…
Quick-hit game notes: 49ers playoff slate set
--- The Niners are 2-2 against the NFC playoff field this season. San Francisco beat Green Bay 30-22 in Week 1, lost to Minnesota 24-13 in Week 3 and split two games with Seattle, beating the Seahawks 13-6 at home during Week 7 and losing to the Seahawks 42-13 at Seattle in Week 16.
--- The playoff seedings: NFC – 1. Falcons (13-3), 2. 49ers (11-4-1), 3. Packers (11-5), 4. Redskins (10-6), 5. Seahawks (11-5), 6. Vikings (10-6). AFC – 1. Broncos (13-3), 2. Patriots (12-4), 3. Texans (12-4), 4. Ravens (10-6), 5. Colts (11-5), 6. Bengals (10-6).
--- The 49ers improved to 8-0 after a loss or a tie during the two seasons since coach Jim Harbaugh joined the team. San Francisco has out-scored the opposition by a combined score of 192-51 in those games.
--- The 49ers captured the NFC West division title for the 19th time in franchise history. It also marked the first time San Francisco has won consecutive division titles since winning the NFC West four consecutive seasons from 1992-1995.
--- Jim Harbaugh became the eighth head coach in NFL history to win division titles in each of his first two seasons, joining a list that includes Chuck Knox of the Los Angeles Rams (five straight from 1973-1977), Ted Marchibroda of the Baltimore Colts (three straight from 1975-1977), Red Miller of the Denver Broncos (1977-1978), Barry Switzer of the Dallas Cowboys (three straight from 1994-1996), Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers (2007-2008), jim caldwell of the Indianapolis Colts (2009-2010) and George Seifert, who also won consecutive NFC West titles during his first two seasons as 49ers coach in 1989-1990.
--- Harbaugh is just the third coach to win two division titles in each of his first two seasons after inheriting a team with a losing record (Chuck Knox's Rams were 6-7-1 in 1972; Ted Marchibroda's Colts were 2-12 in 1974). The 49ers were 6-10 in 2010 before Harbaugh took over as their coach the next season.
--- Harbaugh's 24 victories in his first two seasons with the 49ers are tied for the third-most wins by a coach over his first two seasons in NFL history. Both men ahead of Harbaugh on the list also coached the 49ers. Seifert holds the NFL record with 28 victories in his first two seasons and Steve Mariucci had 25 wins in his first two seasons with the 49ers from 1997-1998.
--- The 49ers remained unbeaten in their last 13 home games against NFC West Division opponents, improving to 12-0-1 during that stretch. It's the NFL's longest active home winning streak against divisional opponents.
--- The Niners have won their last 11 home games in December, the longest active streak in the NFL.
--- Four-time Pro Bowler Frank Gore rushed for 68 yards to finish the season with 1,214 yards rushing, the second-highest total of his career and three more yards than he gained last season.
--- Gore's 2-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter was the 51st rushing touchdown of his career, pushing him past Joe Perry (50) and Roger Craig (50) for the most in franchise history.
--- Gore now holds the franchise records for rushing yds. (8,839), attempts (1,911) and rushing TDs (51).
--- Wide receiver Michael Crabtree hauled in eight catches for a career-high 172 yards receiving, the most by a 49ers wide receiver since 11/3/02 at Oakland, when Terrell Owens had 12 catches for 191 yards.
--- Crabtree had touchdown receptions of 49 and 7 yards, his third multi-TD game of the season and fourth of his career. It also was Crabtree's fourth 100-yard receiving game of the season and the seventh of his career.
--- Crabtree finished the season with career highs in receptions (85), receiving yards (1,105) and touchdowns (9). He became just the 9th player, and first since 2003, to register a 1,000-yd. season (last by WR Terrell Owens - 1,102 rec. yds.).
---Quarterback Colin Kaepernick completed 16 of 28 attempts for a career-high 276 yards, two touchdowns and a quarterback rating of 114.6.
--- Cornerback Tarell Brown notched his second interception of the season and 11th of his career when he picked off Cardinals QB Brian Hoyer in the fourth quarter.
--- Defensive tackle Ray McDonald registered his first forced fumble and the third of his career. The loose ball was scooped up by S Donte Whitner, marking his first fumble recovery of the season and the fifth of his career.
--- Defensive tackle Ricky Jean Francois notched his second sack of the season, giving him a new single-season career high.
--- Linebacker Ahmad Brooks had San Francisco's other sack of Hoyer, giving him 6.5 sacks on the season and 26.5 for his career.
--- Whitner played in his 100th NFL game while cornerback Carlos Rogers made his 100th career start.
--- Alex Smith was at quarterback for San Francisco's final two offensive series in the fourth quarter, his first action since suffering a concussion Nov. 11 against St. Louis. Smith completed his lone pass for a 6-yard gain to Bruce Miller. Dating back to halftime of an Oct. 18 win over Seattle, Smith completed 36 of his past 39 attempts for 391 yards, five touchdowns and one interception.
--- After missing two more field goals, kicker David Akers finished the season making just 29 of 42 field-goal attempts for a career-worse 69 percent.
