Triple Trade Down: 'Boys Finally Take RB

The Dallas Cowboys moved down in the fourth round three times before finally taking Georgia Tech running back Tashard Choice.

After trading all of its day two picks before the No. 122 selection in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys selected Georgia Tech RB Tashard Choice.

Choice originally signed with Oklahoma before deciding to transfer to Georgia Tech after his freshman year.

He led the ACC in rushing in each of his last two seasons.

As a senior Choice recorded 1,379 yards rushing on 261 carries, scoring 10 touchdowns along the way. As a junior he rushed 297 times for 1,473 yards and 12 more scores.

Dallas received the No. 122 selection in a trade with the Cleveland Browns earlier in the day.

Choice is the No. 12 running back on TheRanchReport.com's 2008 draft board. He ranked behind No. 11 Steve Slaton (West Virginia) and ahead of No. 13 Chancey Washington (USC).

The former Yellow Jacket standout is the second running back taken in this year's draft. Dallas also selected Arkansas running back Felix Jones in round one.

Dallas lost two running backs this offseason in Julius Jones and Tyson Thompson. Pro Bowler Marion Barber returns in 2008 as the starter in the backfield.

TheRanchReport.com's Scouting Report: Earns every yard he gets. Quicker then fast. Good run instincts, hands and run pass routes. Not a home run guy but gets tough yards between the tackles. Lacks top speed to create daylight and beat the angle. Has puts the ball on the ground some and was never 100% during the 07 season. Was a willing but not effective blocker. Very strong lower torso. Transfer from the U of Oklahoma where he backed up Adrian Peterson. Has fourth round draft potential.
