The Dallas Cowboys have placed the franchise tag on free safety Ken Hamlin.

Hamlin, who made the Pro Bowl in his first year with the Cowboys in 2007, finished the season with 62 tackles and five interceptions.

He will make $4.3 million in 2008.

This marks the first time the Cowboys have used the franchise tag since placing it on LT FLozell Adams in 2002.
