DALLAS - A handful of legendary Cowboys – including Emmitt Smith, Darren Woodson, Everson Walls and Ron Springs -- are set to assemble in DFW for the Dallas All-Sports Association Annual Banquet. … and TheRanchReport.com will be there, too.
It could be a multi-hanky night for this awards dinner, and it is as star-studded as any event in the country. It’s Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas, from 6-to-9:30 p.m. – and you can be there, too! -- as some of the greatest names in sports will honor one another.
Cowboys fans will be treated to a presentation by Emmitt Smith. (Other presenters include Tom Landry Jr., Dr. Bobby Brown, Mayor Tom Leppert, broadcaster Norm Hitzges and Mavs GM Donnie Nelson.)
Cowboys fans will also enjoy at least two other special moments:
Darren Woodson will receive the EMMITT SMITH AWARD, given to an Athlete for Performance, Passion and Pursuit of Perfection in sports). And the heroic-friendship story of Ron Springs and Everson Walls will be noted as they receive the COURAGE AWARD, given to someone in sports that has shown exemplary courage.
Other award recipients include: Dick Vermeil (the LAMAR HUNT AWARD, DASA’s National Award, given for longevity, achievement and sportsmanship); Tommy Lasorda (the LEGENDS AWARD , for lifetime achievement or lasting impression on their sport); Tony Dungy, (Tom Landry Award, for the nation’s outstanding Professional or College Coach); Dirk Nowitzki (the BIG D AWARD, given to the person who has enriched local sports by their character and achievements); and James Brown (PAT SUMMERALL AWARD, for excellence in sports journalism or broadcasting).
The event is the Dallas All-Sports Association Annual Awards Banquet, and again, TheRanchReport.com will offer full coverage of the get-together. Tickets are $150, and for more information you can contact DASA executive director Bob Melton at (214) 485-2055 or at bmelton@dallasallsports.com.
