A closer look at third round pick Jason Hatcher.
Junior Year
: Hatcher saw plenty of playing time during the 2004 season in his first full year at defensive end... had 33 tackles (eleven solo) including ten for a loss of 45 yards... had five sacks for a loss of 33 yards along with blocking two kicks and breaking up a pass... best game was when he had eight tackles including two for a loss of ten yards and a sack for a loss of six yards in the team's 53-32 victory over Prairie View A&M in the Southwest Airlines State Fair Classic on October 2nd... had five tackles including two for a loss of nine yards along with a sack for a loss of eight yards against Alcorn State on September 4th... had five tackles including one for a loss of three yards against Alabama A&M on September 11th... had five tackles including two for a loss of 13 yards along with a sack for a loss of ten yards in the team's 34-26 victory over Mississippi Valley State on October 9th.
Sophomore Year
: Hatcher saw a considerable amount of action on both sides of the football as rookie during the 2003 season... he started the season off at tight end where he spent some time as a starter while catching a pass for 14 yards along with a two-point conversion.... midway during the season, he was gradually switched to defensive end where he would eventually earn a starting position... had 13 tackles including four solo along with three sacks for a loss of eleven yards while breaking up a pass... has had a couple of games during the season where he has played both positions.
High School
: Hatcher earned letters in both football and basketball while attending Jena High School... helped to lead his team to 10-3 record... earned All-State honors as a senior... caught 28 passes for 1,028 yards as a senior wide receiver... best game six catches for 211 yards against Belle Chase on November 11, 2000... high school coach was Mac Fowler... chose Grambling State over McNeese State, Louisiana Tech and Nicholls State.

: Jason Dewayne Hatcher was born July 13, 1982 in Alexandria, Louisiana... parent is the late Jane Hatcher... is majoring in Physical Education... career goal is to become a successful head football coach... hobbies are fishing, hunting and spending time with his children.
