In a story that won't go away, it was learned Monday that the Dallas Cowboys want $600,000 back from Quincy Carter based on failure to perform up to expectations based in his contract.
Quincy Carter
is no longer a member of the Dallas Cowboys, but the mystery surrounding his departure last week is still capturing headlines across the nation.
On Monday, the latest tidbits released involving Carter's dismissal involved his orginial contract with the Cowboys, which was signed 3 years ago when he was drafted out of the University of Georgia.
Apparently, Quincy owes the Cowboys organization $600,000 based on the fact that he failed to perform.
Owner
Jerry Jones
said Monday evening that a letter was sent to Carter already about the matter.
"The day we released Quincy, we wrote him a letter regarding his contract," Jones told the Associated Press Monday evening.
"I can't get into any detail about what was in the letter, what aspects of the contract it gets."
Speculation continues to build that Carter failed a drug test that was given to him by the organization, even though teams are technically not allowed to administer such tests.
The organization as a whole as been tight lipped regarding Carter's release, but team officials have reiterated that nothing was done outside of league policy.
Carter has been in contact with as many as 10 teams around the National Football League since his release. According to sources, the Arizona Cardinals appear to be one of the front runners to land him.
