The Giants Beat Press Box Report

The Giants Beat is live at every Big Blue home game this year bringing you the latest news, notes and updates from MetLife Stadium.

First Quarter Highlights:

Peyton Manning picked up where he left off in Week 1, slicing and dicing the Giants' secondary and marching the Broncos down to New York's six-yard line. Peyton handed the ball off to tailback Monte Ball who coughed up the football and sapped the early momentum for Denver. Giants safety Ryan Mundy recovered the ball in the end zone for a touchback, bringing a once promising drive to a grinding halt.

On the ensuing possession younger Manning brother Eli, hurled a pass deep to wideout Victor Cruz who hauled in the reception for a 51-yard gain. New York's drive would stall at Denver's 18-yard line and Josh Brown would go on to kick a 36-yard field to give New York an early 3-0 lead.

Second Quarter Highlights

The Broncos finally got on the scoreboard when running back Knowshon Moreno scampered 20 yards down the right sideline for a touchdown.

The Giants would answer with a six play, 37-yard drive, capped by a 24-yard field goal by Brown. New York dodged a bullet when a would-be fumbled short of the goal line by wide receiver Rueben Randle was negated due to an illegal contact penalty by Broncos' safety Duke Ihenacho.

Big Blue would tack on a 41-yard field goal with 2:24 remaining in the first half to recapture the lead at 9-7.

Peyton Manning led the Bronocs on an eight play 56 yard drive that resulted in a 42-yard field goal by Matt Prater to give Denver the 10-9 advantage.

With the Giants in field goal range at the Broncos' 28-yard line Manning sailed a pass over the head of his intended target Randle and Denver's Dominick Rogers-Cromartie hauled in the interception to close the first half scoring.
